CONSERVATION COMMISSION

At its Tuesday meeting, the Conservation Commission voted 4-0 to continue the hearing on proposed improvements to Loop Road – primarily maintenance work to repair the road’s deteriorating condition and improved access to the schools. Concerns were raised regarding wetland proximity, erosion control, and an alternate parking area depicted on the plans not previously discussed. Once the plans are revised, it is likely to be approved at the February 10th meeting.

The commission also approved an exemption request to permit the construction of a trail from Berry Acres to the Chamberlain Street cul-de-sac, as greater details were presented regarding the relocation of an existing trail nearby and the replacement of a boardwalk over a stream crossing. The commission continued hearings on the 12 North Mill Street property due to unresolved issues with a proposed drinking water well, which the Board of Health previously rejected due to concerns with access for installation and future maintenance. The developer agreed to present more information at the next meeting before appearing again before the Board of Health.

In other business, the commission welcomed new member Peggy Shaw, bringing it to a full seven members.
