PARKS & RECREATION

At its last meeting, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed plans for a Fruit Street athletic complex concession stand after hearing a proposed concept from resident Anthony Iannone to offer a “farm-to-field” selection of fresh, higher-quality foods including breakfast sandwiches, paninis, charcuterie boxes, and other healthy offerings, while keeping prices reasonable and staffing limited to Hopkinton residents. The commission will revise its prior request for proposals from 2024 (which failed to yield a vendor) before seeking bids. Service could potentially start by the end of September should Iannone be awarded a contract.

The commission also voted to maintain its $50,000 Community Preservation Committee funding request for a design study for EMC Park bathrooms, despite earlier discussions about withdrawing it. It was noted that more information is needed about the site’s waste water and septic infrastructure before deciding on a permanent bathroom facility. The request will remain in place while the town engineer provides additional information and guidance.

CONSERVATION COMMISSION

At its last meeting, the Conservation Commission continued a notice of intent hearing for a dam repair project at 0 Frankland Road, a land parcel set to be donated to the town for open space by Agilitas Energy in exchange for a special permit and site plan approval. The commission requested more information about tree removal, habitat impacts, and proposed changes to the dam before voting.

The commission also unanimously denied a motion to reconsider a notice of intent for a proposed single-family home at 12 North Mill Street, finding that no significant changes were made to the plan since its previous decision.

PLANNING BOARD

At its Monday meeting, the Planning Board continued two hearings relating to a proposal to subdivide a Maple Street Extension property with a historic home and build a second home. Approval of the project requires a supermajority of six votes; however, only five board members were in attendance. The hearings were continued to July 20th, and a site walk was tentatively scheduled for July 18th at 9am.

The board also unanimously approved repairs to a damaged historic stone wall on Winter Street and continued hearings on permits relating to the Eversource liquefied natural gas facility at 55 Wilson Street until July 20 at Eversource’s request.

BOARD OF HEALTH – SURVEY

The following information regarding a Hopkinton Board of Health survey was shared in the Town Manager’s Weekly Update – June 25, 2026:

Community Health Assessment Survey – Closes July 17th

If you live in Hopkinton and are at least 14 years old, the Hopkinton Board of Health would appreciate your help developing a Community Health Assessment (CHA), which identifies health needs, gaps, and concerns within the community and helps guide programs and initiatives to address them. A significant part of this process is understanding what the Hopkinton community views as important health issues. This survey is completely anonymous, opinion-based, and all questions are voluntary. However, we value responses from everyone in the community, and ask you to be as open and honest as possible. Thoughtful responses will help us best understand the needs and priorities of the Hopkinton community. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.  Community Health Assessment Survey
