WEEKLY NEWS UPDATE – 07/15/26

CONSERVATION COMMISSION
At its Tuesday meeting, the Conservation Commission expressed frustrations over repeated instances of lawn mowing beyond permanent immovable barriers (marking protected buffer zones) on lots at the Chamberlain-Whalen subdivision, noting that future violations could result in $300 per day fines. The commission approved certificates of compliance for two lots but delayed action on a third due to ongoing mowing issues. A suggestion was made to use split-rail fences instead of permanent barriers in future developments.
In other business, the commission approved a planting plan for the Cordaville Pond Dam project, calling for 30 native trees and 19 shrubs to replace vegetation removed during dam work. Hearings on proposed dam repair at Frankland Road; 12 Mill Street; and proposed changes to town wetland regulations were continued to August.
