Main Street Corridor Project – Weekly Update
What to Expect for the Week of June 7, 2021
- Continuation of the Drainage Installation along Main Street, from the 85/135 intersection to East Main Street (from 15 Main Street to 13 Main Street, 10 Main Street, 14 Main Street, 22 Main Street and 52 Main Street)
- Continuation of the Drainage Installation along West Main Street (from 1 West Main Street to 111 Main Street)
- Tree Removal at 35 Main Street and 78 Main Street begins on Monday, June 7th – this operation is expected to last 1-2 days
- MassDOT Survey Crews to continue to locate limits of easements within the corridor from Ash Street to Wood Street

Covid-19 Update and precautions
As of 6/3/21, Hopkinton’s Health Department is reporting 1,065 total confirmed COVID-19 cases; 8 of those cases are active, with 1,040 recoveries and 17 deaths. You can see historical tracking and updates on Hopkinton’s Community Impact Dashboard which is updated frequently.

As summer begins, new policies in place for Sandy Beach
Memorial Day unofficially kicks off the long-awaited summer season. In Hopkinton, it also marked the start of new policies in effect at Sandy Beach, where a residents-only sticker policy is being implemented.
During the peak season, this is a popular amenity for Hopkintonians. Because of this, residents will need to purchase stickers ($50) for access. Boat trailer passes ($100) also will need to be purchased, either for the day or the season. Passes are free for residents 65 and older. They must be displayed on vehicle windshields, even when staff is not present. Any vehicle without a pass will be subject to a $100 fine.
Press Release: Heather Backman Resigns as Library Director
(HOPKINTON, MA – June 4, 2021) – Hopkinton Public Library Director Heather Backman is starting a new chapter in her career and will be leaving her position as Library Director on July 9. Heather has accepted a position with the Weymouth Public Libraries.
Virtual Mental Health Literacy Workshop
Hopkinton Youth and Family Services is sponsoring a foundational (virtual) workshop in Mental Health Literacy on Monday, June 14th. There is a daytime and evening training session available. Please see link below for details.

The Select Board will hold a public hearing to consider an application for the transfer of ownership, but not location, of a Section 15 Package Store All Alcohol license from RKY-HPTK Corp. to Jai Shiv Om Kara Inc., d/b/a Hopkinton Wine & Spirits, at 77 West Main St.
The Select Board approved the transfer of the Section 15 alcohol license to Jai Shiv Om Kara., d/b/a Hopkinton Wine & Spirits, 77 West Main St., and approved a pledge of license and pledge of inventory. (5-0)

The Select Board will hold a public hearing to review an application for the transfer of ownership, but not location, of a Section 15 Package Store Wine & Malt Alcohol license from Hopkinton Friendly Service to Global Montello Group Corp. d/b/a Mobil Mart Hopkinton, at 92 West Main St.

7:10 PM PUBLIC HEARING- HOPKINTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS REQUEST FOR EXCEPTION TO
9. LEASE ADDENDUM, 98 HAYDEN ROWE, TO PERMIT OUTDOOR ALCOHOL SERVICE AT HCA EVENTS
The Select Board will hold a public hearing on a request from the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) for an exception to the lease addendum which would allow alcohol service outside at HCA events this year. The Select Board will review and consider a draft Lease Addendum that would allow the activity.
The Select Board approved a Lease Addendum to allow for outdoor alcohol service at HCA events from June 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021 under the terms and conditions contained in the Addendum, and authorized the Town Manager to sign the Lease Addendum. (4-0)
